Rewarding Work is a history of the North Bennet Street School written by Christine Compston, Stephen Senge, and Walter McDonough published in 2019. Unbound copies were given to students in the bookbinding program at NBSS to bind and exhibit in the school’s Annual Celebration of Craft.

Prior to covering, I dyed goatskin with spirit dyes and added additional texture by pressing sea salt and lead shot into the skin. I cut the edges of the text block to give them a rough texture, sewed the book on German Pleister tapes, and added single-core silk headbands. The binding is tooled in blind and gold. The endsheets are Bhutanese handmade paper stamped with dyes left over from the covering material.
